Roswitha Alexandra Trapperead bio
Roswitha was born and raised in Switzerland, where she lived until going on to pursue her undergraduate degree in International Business at Royal Holloway University of London in 2014. For her second year, Roswitha was selected for the study abroad scholarship to continue the full year at Hong Kong University, which greatly awoke her interest for economic and political issues in the region. During her time at HKU, she became a core member of the university's dragonboat team, which brought her to several international competitions in Hong Kong and Heilongjiang. During the summer after her exchange, she remained in Hong Kong for an internship at a local insolvency firm, which also gave her the opportunity to work with an initiative by the World Bank. Moreover, she got to explore Peking University in a joint summer programme with LSE, which strongly awoke her intent to pursue further studies there. Since her return to the UK for the final year of her Bachelor's degree, she has actively kept in touch with Asia both on an off campus, such as with her dissertation on Swiss SME investment in China, or as a research volunteer at the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association. At Yenching Academy, Roswitha will be pursuing Economics and Management as her research area, and is particularly interested in China's One Belt One Road initiative.
